French billionaire Fran\u00e7ois Pinault, head of the luxury goods group Kering, is a renowned patron of the arts who has chosen the Serenissima to exhibit works from his rich collection.<\/p>\n<p>The foundation's main building is this <strong>Palazzo Grassi<\/strong>with its superb facade overlooking the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/grand-canal-venice\/\">Venice Grand Canal<\/a>. The works can also be viewed at <strong>Punta della Dogana<\/strong> of Venice - as described below - and in Paris, within the <strong>the stock exchange <\/strong>located in the 1<sup>er<\/sup> arrondissement of the capital.<\/p>\n<p>If you're an art lover, this is a visit you're sure to enjoy during your holiday. <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/visit-venice-in-3-days\/\">your stay in Venice<\/a>\u00a0!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>History of Palazzo Grassi<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The <strong>in 1732<\/strong> that the wealthy Grassi family, originally from Bologna, purchased a complex of buildings in <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/venice-tourism\/\">Venice<\/a>A mix of popular houses and more substantial buildings with the advantage of overlooking the Canal.<\/p>\n<p>Although the exact date on which Palazzo Grassi was built on the foundations of these buildings is not known, documents suggest that it was begun <strong>in 1748<\/strong> ending in 1772.<\/p>\n<p>The architect in charge of the project is none other than the famous <strong>Giorgio Massari,<\/strong> artist of the Baroque movement, who at the same time renovated the impressive <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/ca-rezzonico\/\">Ca'Rezzonico<\/a> in the Dorsoduro district.<\/p>\n<p>By the early 19th century, the ruined Grassi family had disappeared, and Palazzo Grassi passed through the hands of 4 different owners over the course of the century.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In 1908<\/strong>was purchased by the wealthy Swiss industrialist <strong>Giovanni Stucky<\/strong>whose son made a number of modifications and gave it its museum function: this is one of the reasons why the palace is sometimes referred to as the <strong>Palazzo Grassi-Stucky. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After new sales and an acquisition by <strong>FIAT<\/strong> in 1983, which modernized the palace, the building was finally acquired by <strong>Fran\u00e7ois Pinault in 2005<\/strong>. In the past, exhibitions such as <em>Once Upon a Dream (<\/em>Youssef Nabil), <em>The illusion of light<\/em> or even <em>Picasso: joie de vivre<\/em> were held at Palazzo Grassi.<\/p>\n<p>Note that <strong>the Pinault collection<\/strong> contains works by artists from all over the world.
