There are <strong>many more affordable options on the mainland or on one of the other islands in the lagoon.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It's well worth considering if you want to spend several days in Venice. It has by far the largest concentration of restaurants, museums and historic buildings in the area.<\/p>\n<p>But it's also the biggest concentration of tourists! Everyone wants to stay here for the most authentic Venice experience. So it's not surprising that prices here are exorbitant.<\/p>\n<p>If you can afford it, it's definitely worth paying to stay here. It's the most beautiful part of the city and <strong>all the famous sites are within walking distance.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Plan your visit during the low season, when things calm down considerably. That way, you can enjoy the city's historic charm. <strong>without drowning under the flood of tourists<\/strong>. There will be more hotel rooms available and you should be able to sit in a restaurant without waiting.<\/p>\n<p>In the historic center, you can stay in hotels such as :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hotel Bartolomeo<\/li>\n<li>Hotel R\u00edo<\/li>\n<li>Le Ca' Del Campo<\/li>\n<li>L'Arcadia Boutique Hotel<\/li>\n<li>Hotel Saturnia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc138151833\"><\/a><strong>Where to stay in Venice: choose Mestre for more economical accommodation<\/strong><strong> \u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Mestre is the mainland part of Venice. Nevertheless, it's easy to get to the old town from here. It's just a few minutes by train from Mestre station to the city center. <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/venice-station\/\">Santa Lucia station<\/a> in the historic center.<\/p>\n<p>There's not much to see in Mestre, and the buildings are mainly of a more modern vintage. It's a fairly pleasant district with a good selection of affordable hotels, so you can <strong>save a lot of money by staying here.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It's also very convenient for getting to and from the airport, especially if you want to avoid having to take a boat.<\/p>\n<p>Among the best hotels to stay at are :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hotel des Roses<\/li>\n<li>Hotel Leonardo Royal Venice Mestre<\/li>\n<li>Au petit Clarin<\/li>\n<li>Villa Barbarich<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc138151834\"><\/a><strong>Choose Giudecca to stay away from the crowds<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Guidecca is located just south of the old town and takes just a few minutes to reach by car. <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/vaporetto-venice\/\">vaporetto<\/a>. The area offers a much quieter atmosphere than the city center, so <strong>many Venetians prefer to live here.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It has the same picturesque, ancient atmosphere as the Centro Storico, with countless canals criss-crossed by small bridges, but without the crowds and souvenir vendors.<\/p>\n<p>Even celebrities such as Elton John and George Clooney enjoy the serene Giudecca and can be spotted here from time to time. Unfortunately, the choice of accommodation is limited, but with a little luck, <strong>you're bound to find what you're looking for!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Among the top establishments are :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hotel Guidecca<\/li>\n<li>Le Cipriani<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc138151835\"><\/a><strong>Where to sleep in Venice: stay near the Lido beach<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/lido-venice\/\">Lido<\/a> is an island to the south-east of the old town with an extensive beach, making it a particularly popular summer destination. It's within easy reach of all the main tourist attractions. A trip to the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/place-saint-marc\/\">place Saint-Marc<\/a> by vaporetto takes about 20 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>You can even drive a car on the island, but there's virtually no traffic. Residents prefer to ride their bikes, which are <strong>also available for rental at many hotels.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Staying in Lido is always a good idea, as prices are cheaper and in summer you can even spend a lovely vacation at the beach or visiting the island's various city parks.<\/p>\n<p>Among the larger establishments are :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Excelsior Hotel<\/li>\n<li>Rivamare villa<\/li>\n<li>Panorama Hotel<\/li>\n<li>Biasuti hotel<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It's easy to find a place to stay in Venice.
