I'd like to tell you more about it!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>A brief history of Venice Lido<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In Roman times, activity on the Venice lido (<a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/venice-activities\/\">but also other<\/a>) was concentrated in <strong>the village of Malamocco<\/strong> which served as a port for the nearby town of <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/padua\/\">Padua<\/a> (<em>Patavium<\/em>). The rest of the island was uninhabited and wild.<\/p>\n<p>It was <strong>a point of defense for Venice<\/strong> against invaders as early as the 12th century, with various forts and barracks, traces of which can still be seen today.<\/p>\n<p>It wasn't until the 17th century that the town began to develop, notably with the construction of the <em>Murazzi<\/em>and <strong>stone walls<\/strong> to protect the coastline from erosion. In the 18th century, the Venetian lido had a pastoral appearance that <strong>seduces artists<\/strong> in search of calm and inspiration, and a tranquility that contrasts with the hustle and bustle of neighboring Serenissima.<\/p>\n<p>Little by little, it attracts other travelers, and is transformed <strong>in a seaside resort<\/strong> for members of the European aristocracy and bourgeoisie, before becoming a favorite haunt of the Italian jet-set.<\/p>\n<p>Hotels sprang up, more and more facilities were built, and only a devastating tide in 1966 slowed the development of the lido. Once reconstruction was complete, the area would take on <strong>its current form<\/strong>and became the region's favourite seaside resort.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The Venice Film Festival\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Every year, <strong>Venice Mostra<\/strong> is held for the most part on Venice's Lido. It's one of the most important film festivals in the world! Here are my suggestions.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Discover local architecture<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Venetian style is palpable in the architecture of the island's buildings. For example, many of the buildings <strong>Liberty style<\/strong>. Among the most remarkable structures are <em>Ausonia Palace Hotel<\/em>which takes you back to the 1920s at a glance.<\/p>\n<p>Don't miss the <em>Murazzi<\/em>which surround the banks of the lido.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Visit the village of Malamocco<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Malamocco was <strong>the first inhabited village<\/strong> of Venice's lido, and has retained a timeless charm. Take a stroll through its narrow streets to soak up the atmosphere and see the close links between this small town and its big sister Venice.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Take a bike ride along the riverbank<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>With its many cycle paths along the beach or through the fields, the Venice lido is a real little paradise. <strong>for bike enthusiasts<\/strong>. You can hire one to take you around the island. You'll have access to secret spots that are still (partly) untouched by the hustle and bustle of tourism!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Enjoy the beach!<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Of course, one of the area's major attractions is the <strong>its beaches<\/strong>. Vast stretches of sand for sunbathing in summer. Venetians abound every year in the summer months!<br \/>\n<a name=\"3\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>How do I get to Venice Lido?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Venice's Lido is just a few kilometers from the Serenissima's historic center. In fact, it's easy to get there by any of the following means of transport:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/vaporetto-venice\/\">vaporetto<\/a>line 1 or 2, which serve numerous stops along the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/grand-canal-venice\/\">Grand Canal<\/a> before reaching the lido. You can also take lines 5.1, 5.2 and 6, from the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/piazzale-roma-venice\/\">Piazzale Roma<\/a><\/li>\n<li>From <strong>ferries<\/strong> sail from Venice (tronchetto) to the lido, and it's possible to board by car or bicycle, which can be a practical solution for travelers with vehicles. The ticket costs 7.5 euros \/ person, with a supplement for a car. Allow around 40 minutes for the crossing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Good to know<\/strong>\u00a0If you plan to use vaporetti, the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/boats-venice\/\">Venice boats<\/a> that serve as a means of transport for the premises, think of the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/vaporetto-pass-venice\/\">Vaporetto Pass<\/a> which allows unlimited use.<br \/>\n<a name=\"4\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>What to see and do in the area?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>If you wish to <strong>explore the surrounding area<\/strong> During your stay on Venice Lido, you'll be spoilt for choice, with several destinations within easy reach. Here are just a few of them:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The pretty town of <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/chioggia\/\">Chioggia<\/a>located about 30 km from the lido<\/li>\n<li>The islands of <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/murano\/\">Murano<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/burano\/\">Burano<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/torcello\/\">Torcello<\/a>(They are also accessible via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiqets.com\/fr\/activites-attractions-venise-c71510\/billets-pour-iles-de-murano-burano-et-torcello-excursion-depuis-venise-p975138\/?partner=bonjourvenise\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">a 6-hour excursion<\/a> from Venice)<\/li>\n<li>Visit the island of <strong>Lazzaretto and its old quarter<\/strong>famous for its archaeological remains<\/li>\n<li>Observing the island <em>cursed<\/em> from <strong>Poveglia. <\/strong>It was popular with ghost hunters and paranormal enthusiasts before being quarantined.
