Between November and March, temperatures oscillate between 0\u00b0 and a maximum of 13\/14\u00b0. Here are my suggestions!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>November\/December<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The months of November and December are perfect for <strong>interior visits. <\/strong>And there's no shortage of that in Venice!<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the <strong>Basilica of St Mark's Square<\/strong> and <strong>the Doge's Palace<\/strong>you can enter the theater of <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/la-fenice-venice\/\">la Fenice<\/a>discover the most beautiful palaces and some unmissable art galleries (such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/guggenheim-venice\/\">Peggy Guggenheim collection<\/a>), superb museums and explore some of <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/unusual-venice\/\">unusual places in Venice<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the month of December <strong>Christmas market<\/strong> in the Dorsoduro district (&gt; see the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/map-of-venice\/\">map of Venice<\/a>). You'll find plenty of local culinary specialities and handicrafts for your Christmas shopping. In particular, you can buy <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/murano\/\">Murano<\/a>if you don't visit the island this time!<\/p>\n<p>Finally, <strong>on the evening of december 31st<\/strong>Venice is dressed in its finest! Enjoy a New Year's meal in one of the restaurants, with dishes exclusive to this date (including succulent stuffed pig's trotters!).<\/p>\n<p><strong>At midnight<\/strong>You can choose to watch the fireworks from St. Mark's Square, or take a midnight dip in the icy waters of the beaches of the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/lido-venice\/\">Venice lido\u00a0<\/a>It's up to you!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>In January<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Many events are organized <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/venice-in-january\/\">in January in Venice<\/a> (on the occasion of the Befana, or to celebrate St. Anthony the Abbot), but the town remains much quieter than usual.<\/p>\n<p>It's the perfect opportunity to <strong>stroll through its narrow streets<\/strong>to pass over and over again <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/rialto-bridge\/\">Rialto bridge<\/a> at different times of the day to take advantage of different light conditions, or climb to the top of the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/campanile-venice\/\">Venice Campanile<\/a> to admire an early sunset.<\/p>\n<p>Follow the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/grand-canal-venice\/\">Grand Canal<\/a>meet the locals who are enjoying this peaceful month, and don't hesitate to embark on a <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/venice-gondola\/\">gondola tour<\/a> because you'll have <strong>the feeling of being privileged<\/strong> on these relatively calm waters!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>In February<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Venice in February finds <strong>all its effervescence<\/strong> for one simple reason: it's Carnival time! It's a major event every year and one of the most famous carnivals in the world.<\/p>\n<p>The atmosphere becomes <strong>pretty crazy<\/strong>You'll be able to play the game and dress up too, so you can explore the city with a sense of incognito. It's exhilarating!<\/p>\n<p>The carnival is spread over several days, culminating in <strong>Ash Wednesday<\/strong>which will take place on February 22 in 2023. If you'd like to take part in these festivities, you'll need to book your stay in advance, as Venice is very busy at this time.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>In March<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>As spring approaches, Venice is back to its hustle and bustle. It reaches its peak in April (for <strong>Easter<\/strong>) and during June, July and August. Temperatures rise a little, making it possible to take a few excursions to neighboring islands without freezing (<a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/san-giorgio-maggiore\/\">San Giorgio Maggiore<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/burano\/\">Burano<\/a>etc.).<\/p>\n<p>This could be a good time to venture out to some of our neighboring towns! I recommend <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/chioggia\/\">Chioggia<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/padua\/\">Padua<\/a>both charming at the time.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What to avoid in Venice in winter<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>While nothing is out of the question in Venice during the winter months <strong>outdoor<\/strong> on neighboring islands can be complicated. There are few places to take shelter in the small towns, and sometimes the water is rough. This can make crossings unpleasant for those who get seasick.<\/p>\n<p>If you stay in Venice, you'll always have the chance to take refuge in a caf\u00e9 for a drink. <strong>a nice hot chocolate<\/strong> (to <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/cafe-florian-venice\/\">Caf\u00e9 Florian\u00a0<\/a>?) or a Bellini (at <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/harrys-bar-venice\/\">Harry's bar\u00a0<\/a>?) if you want alcohol to warm your heart!<br \/>\n<a name=\"4\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Advantages and disadvantages of Venice in Winter<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Here are the advantages, but also some disadvantages, of a <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/guided-tour-venice\/\">visit to Venice<\/a> in winter.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Benefits<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>There are <strong>far fewer people<\/strong>This allows you to fully enjoy Venice, its monuments and architecture, without feeling oppressed. You'll also save a lot of time, since you won't have to queue so often!<\/li>\n<li>Visit <strong>accommodation rates<\/strong> are much lower. What's more, you should be able to find <strong>thefts<\/strong> at low prices at this time of year<\/li>\n<li>The Venetians you will meet during this period are <strong>much more conversational.<\/strong> So, for those who like chatting with locals, it's a godsend!<\/li>\n<li>Venice has a <strong>special charm in winter<\/strong>which gives the city a different atmosphere. If you know Venice in summer, you're in for a real surprise in winter!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Disadvantages<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Visit <strong>rain<\/strong> is not for everyone, and an umbrella or Kway may be necessary.<\/li>\n<li>You may be confronted with the phenomenon <strong>Aqua Alta<\/strong>. These are floods with water from the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/venice-lagoon\/\">Venice lagoon<\/a> that rises and overflows without the city. <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourvenise.fr\/en\/place-saint-marc\/\">St Mark's Square<\/a> can be flooded, and that has its charm. But it can disrupt businesses and scheduled visits when the flood is too high!<\/li>\n<li>The sun sets <strong>early on,<\/strong> which shortens your visit. On the other hand, you can enjoy the braziers on the terraces. And enjoy the cosy atmosphere of the city's bars and restaurants after dark!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a name=\"5\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Tips and tricks to make the most of it<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>As you can see, visiting Venice in winter can be an excellent idea. Especially if you <strong>cold and wind<\/strong> are no problem for you. To make the most of it, here's some sound advice!<\/p>\n<p>Plan ahead <strong>good shoes<\/strong> as the road can be slippery at this time of year.
