The Bauer in Venice: a rich history
In 1880, the establishment belonged to Julius Grünwald, an Austrian entrepreneur and his wife. The couple did not sell the property until 1930. The hotel was sold to Arnaldo Bennati, a popular shipbuilder. To revive the establishment's former glory, the latter organized a major restoration.
Today, fate is sending the Bauer in Venice back to Austrian buyers. It now belongs to SIGNA Holding, and they're not about to let go of this magnificent building.
And so begins a new chapter in the history of the iconic Venetian hotel. The management is keeping the hotel in pristine condition as a tribute to the original owners. You can also find touches of modernity here and there.
