The Musée du Verre is located in the center of the island of Murano and is one of the most famous glass museums in the world. The island of Murano can be reached by public transport (ferries) from Venice. There's a pier next to the museum called the "Museo".
The exhibition is housed in a large palace directly on a wide canal. The building (Palazzo Giustinian) was the former seat of the bishop of Torcello. The Glass Museum is often referred to simply as the "Murano Museum".
What can you see at the Murano Glass Museum?
The museum has two floors and an outdoor area. Glass production in Venice, and especially on the island of Murano, began in the Middle Ages. In various rooms, there are exhibitions from centuries past. Some of the glass works of art have been donated by the great Murano glass company.
One of the museum's highlights is the 15th-century Coppa Barovier. The large, dark-blue chalice was a wedding gift at the time. The Barovier Cup is so well known that many stores on the island of Murano are now available in various sizes.
In the next room, you'll see a large miniature glass garden. A huge chandelier is also one of the highlights of the Glass Museum near Venice, which has been in existence for over 150 years. There are also temporary exhibitions by contemporary glass artists.
How much does it cost to enter the Murano Glass Museum?
Normal admission to the Murano Glass Museum is 14 euros. There are, for example, reduced-rate tickets for schoolchildren and students (9.50 euros). Admission is free for children under 6.

In high season, April to October, you can visit the site from 10 am to 6 pm. The rest of the year, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.. The museum is open every day of the year.

There are around five vaporetto piers in Murano. Not all lines stop at the "Museo" station next to the glass museum. You can also get off at other stops. These are in 15 minutes maximum on footThe island is not very large. The museum is located in the center of the island of Murano.

The Murano Museum has vending machines for drinks and snacks. These are very inexpensive for Venice. In fact, you can expect to pay less than 1 euro for a coffee.
At the exit, we pass a bookshop. Books on glass, Murano, travel guides to Venice and children's books in various languages.
Bags and backpacks must be placed in the free lockers at the museum entrance. In this way, you avoid any risk to the museum works themselves.
