A brief history of the Pier Luigi Penzo stadium
Originally known as Campo di Sant'Elena, the stadium was renamed in 1931 in honor of a local World War I pilot and soldier, Pier Luigi Penzo.

As Venice began to climb up the leagues again in the 1990s, the stadium was gradually extended and, when it was promoted to Serie A in 1998, new makeshift stands were built. Capacity was now just under 15,000.
Since then, safety measures have further considerably reduced capacity, before the 2021 renovations will bring it up to its current level. with 11,150 seats it currently holds.
