From Venice airport to the city center: article summary
Travel by bus from the airport
The bus journey takes about 30 minutes and bus fare is €8. You will be charged €7 for the shuttle service, which will arrive at your destination in 20 minutes.
Venice airport to city center: Choosing the waterbus?
The boat-bus (or water cab) of theVenice airport lasts 1 h 22. The cost is €8. Cabs take 20 minutes to get into town. Private cab fares start at €57. The distance between the airport and the city is 12 km.
Venetian airport buses are not equipped to handle large luggage. Bus tickets can only be punched at the special yellow machine before boarding. A period of validity of 75 minutes applies to them.
Where to take a water cab from the airport?
Venice airport water cabs depart from a quay located 200 metres from the airporta distance that can be covered on foot. Passengers are allowed one suitcase and one piece of hand luggage.
Each additional item costs €3. What's more, there's no public transport at night.
Transfers from Venice airport
The best travel option for you if you have a lot of luggage, are traveling with children or elderly parents, or have a large group of friends is private transfer to/from Venice airport.
There's no need to reserve a vehicle in advance; you can do so online or by phone. In 20 minutes, business-class cars will reach Venice, and minibuses with up to seven passengers will cost around €50.
Venice airport to city center: Venice airport buses
There's a bus from Venice airport to Piazzale Roma, ACTV No5. 8 euros should be enough for the 30-minute journey.
The ticket office is located in the arrivals area. Bus tickets must be punched before leaving the airport for Venice.
Shuttle service to Venice airport
In 20 minutes, you'll be at Piazzale Roma by taking the ATVO shuttle bus from Venice airport. The trip costs €7. Travelers can purchase tickets from the driver upon boarding.
Venice downtown airport: rent a car in Venice
A driver's license, passport and credit card are required to rent a car without a driver at Venice airport.
You can rent a compact car for around €10 a day. The package price includes coverage for car theft, collisions with motor vehicles, tolls and airport taxes. You will be subject to the latter if you rent a car at the airport on the day of your arrival in Venice.
In downtown Mestre, there isn't much parking available on weekdays. So you'll have to park in remote areas. Please note that cars do not circulate in Venice's old town. There are many ways to get to Venice from San Marco airport. When planning your trip, I advise you to choose the means of transport that is most convenient for you. In fact, depending on the number of people traveling with you, or the amount of luggage you have, you'll be able to choose the most comfortable means of transport, you'll prefer one type of transport to another.
