Events in Venice: Venice Carnival
For fourteen days and nights, the city is ablaze with light and celebration as part of the Carnival. The place Saint-Marcthe epicenter of the party, becomes host to the famous "Flight of the Angel".A tradition that sees a young girl of remarkable beauty flying through the sky, pulled by a zip-line. She soars above the jubilant crowd like a deity. Yet the brilliance of Carnival is not limited to this vibrant center. No, the celebration infuses every corner, every alleyway, every district of the city, making the whole city a veritable festival of joy.
Parades of a thousand hues parade on the water's mirror and along the stone paths, regatta boat races create waves of excitement, fairs for the little ones generate laughter and wonder, and free shows enliven the city's atmosphere. This effervescence is at its peak at weekends. However, the quintessence of the Carnivale experience is to take part in a masked ball.
Many of these balls are exclusive, reserved for an invited elite, while others require the purchase of an admission ticket. Among them, the most renowned official ball, a sumptuous and expensive event, which takes place at the majestic Ca' Vendramin Calergi, the historic palace overlooking the Grand Canal. The Venice Biennale
Founded in 1895 Venice Biennale is an exhibition dedicated to contemporary art, architecture, dance, film and theater. It is one of the most prestigious contemporary art events in the world.
Held every two years between mid-May and November, the festival invites artists and tourists alike to discover visionary works of art.
This festival is held in the formerArsenale and gardens. However, it is possible to find free events all over the city.
Venice event: Veneto jazz
Veneto Jazz organizes shows throughout the Veneto region twice a year January to April and June to August.
The festival moves to Venice in July, and concerts are held in famous Venetian villas. It's a dream come true for jazz fans, offering them a venue worthy of the music's prestige.
Many well-known artists share the stage with local bands. The history Teatro la Fenice or Venice's Chiesa della Pieta also welcome musicians. You can then enjoy an exceptional setting to attend your performance.
Venice International Film Festival
How can we talk about events in Venice without mentioning the International Film Festival. Present on the island for over 75 years, the festival showcases the film industry and welcomes Hollywood's biggest stars to the island for the duration of its presence. Lido of Venice.
For 11 days at the end of summer, the city takes on a simple, relaxed atmosphere. While the festival is open to mainstream films, it also rewards auteur films, documentaries and works from the animation industry.

Venice event: the Venice Marathon
Runners are not forgotten in Venice. Every October, 8,000 runners take part in the Venice Running Race. You can discover the city from a different perspective.
The start is at Villa Pisani, 25 km west of Venice. During the race, you'll pass through the area known as the "Riviera del Brenta". Here you'll find magnificent 18th-century Venetian villas. You will then have to pass through the San Giuliano park in Mestre and, finally, arrive in Venice.
Once on the island, you'll have to cross the Grand Canal on a temporary floating bridge to the St. Mark's Square. If you don't want to do the full marathon, there's also a 10 km coursestarting at San Giuliano Park.
La Festa della Sensa
Every year, Venetians celebrate their city with a symbolic marriage between the city and the sea.
The father of Venice, represented by the mayor, steps forward in a magnificent parade boat. After arriving in the Basin of San Marco, a ceremonial ring is thrown into the sea to mark the union.
Once the ceremony is over, the traditional markets welcome artists dressed in period costume. You can celebrate for a day and enjoy the festive atmosphere.
Venice event: the Vogalonga
Present for more than 40 years, this event celebrated to denounce the harmful effect of motorboats on the lagoon. Originally a demonstration, the event was later transformed into a festivity bringing together over 7,000 rowers in 1,700 non-motorized boats of all shapes and sizes.
The boats make a 30 km circuit from the Doges' Palace. The procession takes place under the watchful eye of the crowds lining the canals. An event not to be missed if you are in Venice at this time.
Art night in Venice
In June, you can take part in the Night of Art. This initiative, proposed by Ca'Foscari University, encourages galleries and museums to showcase local talent.
The reason it's called Art Night is that the doors of the establishments stay open late. During this period, visits to free exhibitions take place throughout the city. Other exhibitions take place in the streets of Venice, offering visitors an exceptional range of art.
