Just a two-minute vaporetto ride from San Marco-San Zaccaria, the blinding white marble edifice of the San Giorgio Maggiore invites travellers through the bright blue of the Grand Canal. Situated on a small island of the same name, the venue includes a former convent, a concert hall and an open-air theater surrounded by an expanse of greenery, the view of Venice from the quay of the vaporetto is worth the trip alone.

Spanning five centuries, this 28-meter tower has undergone numerous aesthetic transformations under different owners.
The view isn't as incredible as the other top vantage points on this list. However, the building itself is really interesting and architecturally appealing, the spiral staircase (bovolo) is magnificent, and there are often temporary artistic performances on the lower floors.
