You plan to spend a few days in Venice ? This is an excellent choiceThe city has so much to offer visitors!
But let's start with the first step: how to get to Venice easily.
By plane
The airplane is the solution the simplest and the most common for tourists from France. There are two airports in Venice :
- The airport Venice Marco Polowhich is the international airport of the city. Conveniently located just 8 km from the historic city center
- Treviso airportThis is the main landing point for low-cost flights. It is located about 30 km from the city
Once you've landed in one of these locations, simply choose the most convenient means of transport to get to the city center: boat/bus/bus. cab / Bateau-Taxi or Train!
By train
It's also easy to get to Venice by train, arriving at Santa Lucia Station. Numerous vaporetti depart from this station for the city center, but you can also walk to reach the main points of interest of Venice.
By car
The historic part of Venice lies on the water, which gives it much of its charm. its Grand Canal and its gondolas. However, cars are not allowed in the center!
But you can reach Venice by car and stop at the last land areas which are :
- Visit Piazzale Roma
- The island of Tronchetto, linked to the city by a tramway
- Chioggia
- Punta Sabbioni
- Fusina/san Giuliano
By Bus
From busfrom from nearby towns or the land side of Venice (Venice Mestre) to the Serenissima. The main bus station is Piazzale Roma.
By boat
Venice is of course served by numerous boats. You can get to Venice by water by opting for the a cruise (to Tronchetto), or by choosing the boat as a means of transport from the airportto reach the city center.
Where to stay in Venice?
Another element that will determine the success of your stay in Venice is your choice of your home.
When booking, please remember Practice and try to opt for central accommodation. This will help you avoid wasting time on tedious journeys and spending too much on public transport.

Tourism in Venice, and more generally in Italy, can only be synonymous with delicious meal. Of course, there are very good restaurants in Veniceto enjoy the atypical preparations of the Veneto, far from being only pizza!

- The city has 55,000 inhabitants (historic center) and 220,00 in total
- Visit liners cruise ships are now prohibited in the Venice lagoonto protect the city
- Venice has a dam which takes the name of MOSE projectto prevent frequent flooding
- Tourism in Venice brings in around 3 billion euros to the city each year
- A tourist tax, included between 3 and 10 eurosThe project, which is constantly being postponed, could come into force in the summer of 2023.
How to behave in Venice
Venice attracts a huge number of people every year, and it is worth prepare properly and be well-informedTo make the most of it, and above all, to behave as you should. Alas, the city's overcrowding leads to a number of problems.

Next, be sure to observe the rules of conduct as follows:
- Don't picnic in squares or in front of monuments

- Avoid feeding the pigeons in Piazza San Marco!
